The St. Martin's Guild approached Reverend Tom Pyke at St. Pauls in March 2004. A project has now been launched with the PCC to raise money for the installation of
a new ring of 10 bells. The Keltek Trust has offered the project the redundant chime of 8 bells from Cradley Heath Methodist Church. The Cradley Heath
bells were removed on Wednesday the 21st July, 2004 by Steve Westerman (Taylors), Graham Nabb, Susan Marshall, Paul Webb and Richard Grimmett.
The last service at the church was held on Sunday the 18th July, when the bells were played by Clive Smith (Lichfield). It is hoped that the church
will be sold for commercial use.
Because of the different weight profiles of a chime of bells compared to a full-circle ring, it is proposed that we use the back four of the chime
at St. Pauls and cast six new trebles. It is possble that another home may be found in the Diocese to accommodate the front four as part
of a new light eight.
